10 tips to reduce eye strain from computers
Eye strain from computers is very common these days. This is due to lack of basic knowledge of how to use the computers without putting too much strain on your eye. Below is just few tips to reduce eye strain from computers
Adjust your screen lighting.
Never keep your screen lightening too low or too high. This can really hurt your retina in your eye. Position your chair correctly and your table. This is again for the correct angle of light hitting your eyes from the monitor. And its a good idea to buy a monitor screen cover. This will reduce the effect of the monitor on your eyes.
Adjust your room lightening.
This is very important. The lightening in your room should be adequate. Very little lightening will concentrate your eyes on the monitor too much. Also the position of lightening should be good. You should not be blocking the light. Or this will form a shadow on the monitor.
Take frequent brakes.
Take frequent but short brakes of about 20 seconds. Close your eyes and let them relax. Don’t look at the computer during this time.
Keep on blinking every 30-60 sec.
This is again to stop your eyes from concentrating too much on the monitor.
Take a 5 minute break after 1hr of using your computer.
This is actually a tip my friend gave me. And I try to use it as much as possible if I remember to implement it. And it actually relaxes my eyes and my body. But you have to leave the room. At least leave the chair. Get away from the computer radiation.
Never sit down more than 5 hrs.
OK this is extreme. This is for people like me( computer game maniacs). I feel that if I sit more than 5 hrs, my eyes keep on hurting until I sleep and wake up next morning. Doctors actually recommend not to spend more than an hour a day. But this is kind of hard to implement, especially if this is your job.
Don’t watch low quality videos.
Many people ignore this and end up concentrating on a blur on the screen. This effects your eyes even worse. Nothing is more important than your eyes.
Keep the computer next to a window .
This is to have a glance every now and then. When you look outside, at the sky or trees it really relaxes your eye. I always do that.
Keep a plant next to you or in the room.
This just to look at the green color. The green color is known to relax your eyes. Just keep a small plant. Look at it you’ll feel better
Shutdown your computer before half an hour sleeping.
Okay this is actually more related to sleeping.But sleeping does help your eyes. So its better to turn off the computer just half an hour before you go to bed. This will relax your eyes more during sleeping and you wont wake up with eye ache

You can also increase the default font size for all your applications and windows. This makes it easier to see from a distances and you don't have to sit to close to the monitor anymore. For computer professionals it's indeed important to adjust their settings so they won't have eye strain pain.
